MenoMinds Community Guidelines

1. Our Community

MenoMinds is a supportive community created to provide women with information, connection and encouragement throughout menopause.

We want MenoMinds to feel welcoming, respectful and safe. These Community Guidelines explain the standards we ask all members to follow when taking part in the MenoMinds community, including discussions, events, workshops, comments, private messages and other member interactions.

By joining and participating in MenoMinds, you agree to follow these guidelines alongside our Terms & Conditions and other applicable policies.

2. Be Kind and Respectful

Every woman’s experience of menopause is different.

Members are expected to communicate with kindness, consideration and respect, even when opinions or experiences differ.

Healthy discussion and disagreement are welcome, but personal attacks, hostility, intimidation, ridicule or deliberately inflammatory behaviour are not.

Please challenge ideas rather than individuals.

3. Respect Different Experiences and Choices

There is no single correct way to experience or manage menopause.

Members may have different views and make different choices regarding treatment, medication, HRT, lifestyle, nutrition, complementary approaches and other aspects of their wellbeing.

Members are welcome to share their own experiences, but should not pressure, shame or criticise others for making different choices.

Personal experience should be presented as personal experience rather than as a universal truth.

4. Medical and Health Information

MenoMinds provides education, information and peer support. It does not provide individual medical diagnosis or treatment.

Members may discuss their experiences of symptoms, treatments and healthcare, but should not diagnose other members or instruct them to begin, stop or alter prescribed medication or treatment.

Information shared by another member should not be treated as a substitute for advice from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.

Please also refer to our Medical Disclaimer.

5. Privacy and Confidentiality

Members may share personal and sensitive experiences within the community. Please treat what other women share with care and discretion.

You must not:

  • screenshot or reproduce another member’s posts without their permission

  • share another member’s personal information outside MenoMinds

  • copy private conversations without consent

  • identify another member publicly without their permission

  • record community discussions, workshops or events unless expressly authorised by MenoMinds

Although we ask all members to respect confidentiality, MenoMinds cannot guarantee that another member will never disclose something shared within the community. Please use your own judgement when deciding how much personal information to share online.

6. Respect Personal Boundaries

Connection is an important part of MenoMinds, but members should respect one another’s boundaries.

Do not repeatedly contact another member who has indicated that they do not wish to continue a conversation.

Unwanted sexual attention, harassment, threatening behaviour, bullying or persistent intrusive contact will not be tolerated.

7. No Hate, Abuse or Discrimination

Abusive, threatening, degrading or hateful content is not permitted.

This includes attacks or harassment directed towards another person because of a protected characteristic or personal circumstance.

Members should help us maintain a community in which women can participate without fear of hostility or intimidation.

8. Sharing Advice and Recommendations

We encourage members to share things they have personally found useful.

However, please be clear about the difference between:

  • sharing your own experience

  • making a suggestion

  • making a factual or medical claim

Do not knowingly share misleading or false health information.

Where appropriate, members may be asked to provide a reliable source for health or scientific claims.

MenoMinds may remove information which we reasonably believe could cause harm or significantly mislead members.

9. Promotion, Advertising and Solicitation

MenoMinds is primarily a space for support and connection rather than advertising.

Members must not use the community to:

  • repeatedly advertise products or services

  • send unsolicited promotional private messages

  • recruit clients or customers

  • add members to mailing lists without their permission

  • promote commercial schemes or opportunities

  • collect member information for marketing purposes

If you have something genuinely useful that you believe would benefit the community, please contact the MenoMinds team before promoting it.

Recommendations arising naturally within a relevant conversation are welcome provided there is no undisclosed commercial interest.

If you have a financial, professional or other relevant connection to something you recommend, please disclose it.

10. Content Belonging to Other People

Please only share material that you have the right to share.

Do not upload or reproduce copyrighted books, courses, paid resources, articles, photographs, recordings or other material without appropriate permission.

When sharing someone else’s work, please credit the original source where appropriate.

MenoMinds resources, workshop recordings and other members-only materials must not be copied, redistributed or made publicly available unless MenoMinds has expressly given permission.

11. Events, Workshops and Group Discussions

During live MenoMinds sessions, please give other women space to participate and be heard.

We ask members to:

  • listen respectfully

  • avoid speaking over others

  • respect requests for confidentiality

  • allow different perspectives

  • avoid giving unsolicited personal or medical advice

  • be mindful of how much space they are taking within a group discussion

Hosts or facilitators may intervene where necessary to keep a session safe, inclusive and constructive.

12. Sensitive and Distressing Content

Menopause can involve difficult emotional, psychological and physical experiences.

Members are welcome to talk honestly about difficult subjects, but please be mindful that detailed descriptions of traumatic or distressing experiences may affect other members.

Where appropriate, consider giving a brief content warning before discussing particularly sensitive material.

MenoMinds is not an emergency or crisis support service. Anyone requiring urgent medical or mental health assistance should contact an appropriate healthcare or emergency service.

13. Concerns About Another Member

If another member behaves in a way that makes you uncomfortable or appears to breach these guidelines, please report the matter to the MenoMinds team rather than becoming involved in an escalating public dispute.

Where appropriate, we may contact those involved privately to understand what has happened.

We will handle concerns as sensitively as reasonably possible, although confidentiality cannot always be guaranteed where action is required to protect members or comply with the law.

14. Moderation

The MenoMinds team may moderate community content to protect the wellbeing and purpose of the community.

Depending on the circumstances, we may:

  • contact a member privately

  • ask a member to amend or remove something

  • edit or remove content

  • restrict participation in particular areas

  • issue a warning

  • temporarily suspend access

  • terminate membership

Serious misconduct may result in immediate removal without a prior warning.

Examples may include serious harassment, threats, deliberate discrimination, repeated breaches of another member’s privacy, dangerous misinformation or conduct that places another person at risk.

Our actions will be guided by the circumstances and seriousness of each situation.

15. Keeping MenoMinds a Supportive Space

We want MenoMinds to be somewhere women can come as they are.

You do not need to have all the answers. You do not need to agree with everyone. You do not need to share anything you would rather keep private.

We simply ask members to approach one another with kindness, curiosity, respect and compassion.

Connection is at the heart of MenoMinds, and every member plays a part in creating the kind of community we all want to belong to.

16. Related Policies

These Community Guidelines should be read alongside our:

  • Terms & Conditions

  • Privacy Policy

  • Single Sex Participation Policy

  • Medical Disclaimer

  • Refund & Cancellation Policy

Where there is any inconsistency between these Community Guidelines and the MenoMinds Terms & Conditions, the Terms & Conditions will take precedence.
